Effective immediately, the Health Sciences Center Facilities Management and Maintenance Engineering units have been integrated with the overall WVU facilities structure. “We will soon be embarking upon a complex and costly infrastructure upgrade at the Health Sciences Center,” said Paula Congelio, associate vice president and chief financial officer at the HSC. “Over the last several months, we have been working with the University’s Facilities and Services organization, under the direction of Randy Hudak, to plan these long-delayed improvements to our classroom, laboratory and office spaces. It has become clear as we have worked together that there are substantial advantages to having a single organizational structure that encompasses planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities across the entire WVU campus.” The HSC units manage the 1.5 million square feet of academic, research, and healthcare space, including the Health Sciences building, the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Center, the Erma Byrd Biomedical Sciences Building and the surrounding grounds and auxiliary facilities.
